Our Approach

Aura FNCs Approach to Neurorehabilitation

Aura Functional Neurology Center (Aura FNC) was founded in 2023 and is based out of Cumming, Georgia, right outside of Atlanta. Our head Functional Neurologist is Dr. Diana Tyler who tailors each of our patients’ neurorehabilitation programs to fit their unique needs. We provide a modern treatment approach that simultaneously targets the underlying neurological, metabolic, functional, and structural dysfunction for the highest synergistic result, promoting a healing lifestyle for those afflicted with neurological disorders like migraine and dysautonomia.

To address the neurological components, we provide neurological treatments and resources to encourage resilient neuroplasticity by promoting adaptive change within the brain and body using concepts from applied clinical neuroscience. Functional Neurology, also known as Chiropractic Functional Neurology, consists of structured and targeted brain rehabilitation exercises, functional nutrition, and other modalities to create positive changes in the nervous system and, consequently, an individual’s physiology.

Additionally, we utilize chiropractic evaluation, brain-based adjusting, and physical exercise rehabilitation to address underlying musculoskeletal involvement of neck pain, posturing, trigger points, segmental dysfunction, and thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS).

Functional nutrition addresses the metabolic and hormonal involvement of migraine headaches and other neurological disorders. Our functional nutrition services at Aura FNC usually include nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle modifications as well as holistic supplementation while co-managing with primary care doctors for analysis of laboratory studies.

Your Path to Recovery

Dr. Diana Tyler has created a simple yet thorough process for every patient who comes through a program at Aura FNC. She wants to make sure their road to recovery is as smooth as possible. As a migraine patient herself, she fully understands how important it is for each of her patients to not only have a fully tailored treatment program but to also have a stress-free journey from start to finish.

For our neurorehabilitation programs at Aura FNC, our primary method of treatment, we have a 5 step process:

  1. Consultation
  2. Exam
  3. Review
  4. Neurorehabilitation
  5. Home treatment plan

JaneApp Consultation

Your first engagement with Aura FNC begins by using one of the booking links found here on our website to book your complimentary consultation using our JaneApp EHR platform. During this consultation, we’ll go over any questions you might have about our intensive neurological rehabilitation programs, any recent symptoms, and when a good time would be to book your new patient examination.

New Patient Exam

For your 90-minute bedside neurological examination, you’ll come into the Aura FNC office located in downtown Cumming, Georgia. If you’re local and not too far of a drive, we’ll be able to schedule this as soon as possible. If you’re driving from a city in either Georgia or another state nearby that is several hours away, or if you’re flying into the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from another state further away or internationally, we might have to be more strategic about how we schedule your exam.

Your new patient exam will include a thorough collection of any relevant medical history, laboratory analysis if co-managing with a primary care provider, neurological testing, biomechanical testing, metabolic and dietary evaluation, and your follow-up “Review” appointment, also known as your “Report of Findings”.

Report of Findings

During our report of findings, we will review the results from the new patient examination, recent symptoms, and relevant medical history. We will determine whether we should co-manage with a primary care provider to include blood work findings or any other laboratory analysis. We will also go over the scope of your intensive neurological treatment program and whether the duration of yours should be a 5-day, 10-day, or 15-day neurorehabilitation program.

Intensive Neurological Treatment Program

You will come to Aura FNC for either 5 days, 10 days, or 15 days consecutively for your intensive neurological treatment program. Some patients are able to tolerate more therapy at one time than others are, and each neurorehabilitation program will be tailored accordingly. Typically, patients can expect to be in the Aura FNC office for 1 to 3 hours per day throughout their program. If you’re from out of town, please visit our Travel page to learn more about our suggested local lodging and dining options.

Home Treatment Plan

By the time we’re finished with your neurorehabilitation program, we’ll have your 3-month home treatment plan ready for you to take with you so that you can continue to aid your brain and neuroplasticity – allowing you to take control of your neurological symptoms long after you’ve visited Aura Functional Neurology Center. Our Neuroscience Blog page and our social media pages are consistently being updated with new educational content to support our patients and any other audiences looking to empower themselves by learning about functional neurology.

Intensive Neurorehabilitation Treatment Programs

Welcome to our Neuro-Intensive Program, an innovative, short-term course specifically designed to unlock your brain’s full potential! Spanning between 5 to 15 days, this program uses the power of neuroplasticity – the brain’s inherent ability to form and reorganize synaptic connections – to help enhance your cognitive capabilities.

Through a range of engaging and challenging brain training exercises, our program works to create new neuronal pathways. These exercises include memory-boosting tasks, problem-solving activities, and multi-sensory experiences, all crafted to reinforce your brain’s capacity for continuous learning and adaptation.

Our programs uniquely incorporate principles from functional neurology, an exciting branch of applied neuroscience that helps us develop non-invasive, targeted interventions for various neurological conditions like migraine and dysautonomia. A significant part of this approach is analyzing eye movements – a vital window into your brain’s health and functioning.

For example, our eye-tracking exercises can stimulate and evaluate the health of your frontal lobes, which are essential for skills like planning and decision-making. If these exercises reveal any difficulties in tracking moving objects with your eyes, it may indicate potential issues in these brain regions. But don’t worry! By performing specialized exercises designed to enhance eye tracking, we can stimulate these areas of your brain, promoting neuroplasticity, and improving cognitive functions.

Our Intensive Neurorehabilitation Programs are all about harnessing the brain’s remarkable capacity to rewire itself, fostering cognitive resilience and improved brain health. Work 1:1 with Dr. Diana Tyler to boost your neurological health, ultimately leading to a better quality of life. We’re looking forward to your journey towards enhanced brain health at Aura FNC.
